Cincinnati Bengals
The emergence of the Bengals
A new team was brought into the American Football League (AFL) in 1967. This expansion team began with passion and drive. They were aiming high from the start. What was their first big move? Making Paul Brown head coach.
Brown had already become a legend in football by leading the Cleveland Browns to win eight NFL championships. The Bengals, with Brown leading them, went on a journey that had many highs and lows but also included moments that will forever be remembered as some of the greatest in football history.
Joining the NFL
The year 1970 was significant for the Bengals since it marked three years after they were created. This year saw the AFL-NFL merger happen and so brought them into the National Football League (NFL). With this change came more difficult competition, bigger obstacles to overcome, and more well-known NFL teams to play against.
Playoffs and Super Bowl Hopes
Over time there have been times when Cincinnati has shown brilliance. They’ve made it to NFL playoffs 18 different times which is quite impressive considering how tough it can be just getting there alone. But those were not their only achievements – they reached three Super Bowls too; one in 1982, another one in 1989, and then most recently this past year during season 2021-22 when they appeared back again at last since thirty years ago following season 1991-92 yet such commendable feats still did not lead them towards victory because till now they never won a single championship game out of three attempts so far but that’s what keeps driving them each year until eventually someday come true.
Building Cincinnati Bengals Rivalries
A sports team isn’t complete without its rivals. And for Bengal fans, there are three main ones: Pittsburgh Steelers (PIT), Baltimore Ravens (BAL), Cleveland Browns (CLE).
- Steelers vs Bengals: It all started when Pittsburg joined NFL same time as Cincinnati back in 1970. They have played each other 154 times so far with Steelers leading the series at 87-62-5. These games show off skill, strategy and most importantly passion.
- Ravens-Bengals Dynamic: This rivalry began when Baltimore got their team in 1996. So far they have met 31 times where Ravens have won more often than not by 18 to 13 record but these meetings between these two teams always leaves people wanting more because you never know what might happen next especially when it comes down close towards end of game where anything can take place within last minute or even seconds left on clock.
- Ohio Duel – Browns vs Bengals: One of the best rivalries in Ohio history is Cleveland vs Cincinnati . They are both from the same state but different cities so they naturally became enemies over time. The Browns have a big advantage currently with winning 94 out of the 160 games that they have played against each other, with four ending in a tie. But beyond records their matches are charged with emotion, history, and competition spirit.
Cincinnati Bengals By The Numbers
The fans of the Bengals team have had many ups and downs throughout the years. As of 2023 season they hold an overall record of (385-463 –5 ) . When it came time for playoffs wins were scarce only having ten out sixteen tries which isn’t great considering how close three times came only falling short every single one those occasions including this most recent attempt following year after season1991-92 when reached again after missing thirty years since previous appearance during year1988 yet still despite all past accomplishments did not succeed but that does not stop them continue striving until finally someday win happens .
